On Composition 2 - "Walking the Streets"

This was an insightful memoir because it was short enough to analyze, but just long enough to actually enjoy the story-line. I didn't get the chance to read all of the other memoirs for the Composition 2 assignment, but this one was written very well. The reason is that the images show students today about people from another time period in which people had similar issues in life to deal with.

From an image perspective, the pictures were useful because they were representational of the clothing, furniture, and buildings of the 1970's. They illustrated the people of this small country town, in which the main character lived. The images were additional detail for the scenes and subjects that the narrative was describing. For instance, if one paragraph was taken from three different works of prose from as many time periods, the differences in era may not be as easily recognizable. On the other hand, with from three different time periods, the viewer can see right away that there are seperate points in time being represented.

If I were to write a graphic memoir that was to reflect trends and attitudes of the time's, I would use this word-specific comic style.
