graphic memoirs
Thinking about our graphic memoirs, I am trying to think of what other types of things I can incorporate beside pictures. I know a lot of people seemed to really enjoy the picture of Vladek in the prisoner uniform that was included in 'Maus.' I also enjoyed this but am not sure why. I liked that Speigleman didn't litter the pages with too any things like this because that may have overdone it. However, since I can't draw, I figure I should incorporate more than just 1 other type of document. At the same time, since they are going to be much shorter than a graphic novel, I wasn't sure if it would be inconsistent having more than one or two. I guess it depends on what is relevant to the telling of the story. What is everyone else thinking about using? How are you going to choose how many other forms to use?

Maybe you could use an allegory, a separate story that is not tied to the actually plot or setting but one that operates more on a metaphorical level; Conveying a different perspective or truth about your main story. To further distinguish these 2 separate stories you could use a different medium as you were talking about above, like photography, stick figures, or just solid blocked colors.
