As we dive into composition 4, well now 3 it is hard to believe this quarter is almost over. It seems like just yesterday I was composing my six word, six image, and sixty-six word memoir. However, I am really enjoying this composition. ComicLife is such and easy and fun program to work with allowing you to do almost anything you can imagine with the apperance of your memoir. It is also a fun task to do for college because normally you are asked to write a 5-7 page paper on a boring article, case study, topic discussed, book, etc. Here we were given the opportunity to pick a topic of choice that we think is worthy of graphic representation. I have learned a lot through this course that will allow me to successfully create my graphic memoir. I took the opportunity to begin to compose my graphic memoir in the time we had left in class after the photoshop workshop and i am contuning to discover new "things" in ComicLife which are allowing me to be very pleased with the appearance of my memoir. I hope people are enjoying this assignment like I am.

I definately agree. I love every assignment we've done in here. They actually allow me to really use my creativity instead of just bullshitting reseach paper after research paper. To be honest, I only took this class because I was waitlisted for my spanish class, but now I'm so glad I took it. It's probably my favorite class I've taken since high school.
ReplyDeleteYea I was kind of uneasy when I first learned what assignments we would be doing in this English class compared to the normal papers, but now with this quarter almost over, I am also really happy that I took this class and got to experience new things such as graphic memoirs and such.
ReplyDeleteIn my English class of senior year in high school (last year), we had spent a couple days of class time reading graphic memoirs/novels. I coincidentally read Maus. I spent the time quickly reading over it without any rhetorical analysis, along with skipping several pages. That's one reason why I'm glad I took this class , because I was able to revisit that graphic memoir and appreciate it in many more ways than I previously did.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first went to the bookstore and saw the books we needed for the class, I got a little nervous and thought about dropping the class. Then after the first day when Kate asked us what we like to write I thought about dropping again. But, once we started Maus I realized how awesome graphic novels are and how much I enjoy this new genre! I only hope that my Comp4 can be .5% as good as the ones we have read.
ReplyDeleteI know I can't believe this quarter is almost over either. This has definitely been my favorite class of college. I definitely think that it has to do with Kate. she is an amazing teacher and she makes me want to be there. Even though i did miss my second class of the quarter but i only did it cause i could.
