Why I write

The article that Kate wanted us to read before class was really good. It’s called “why I write” by Terry Tempest Williams. This was a unique piece of writing because it tells a story but it starts ever sentence with “I write”. It was straight forward by telling you everything it made the audience think outside of the box a bit. He told his story by not telling his story just by saying why he writes. It also opened my eyes to why people or even my self write. There are many examples he used to show how he wrote and some of them kind of shocked me but after reading this I understand why he writes and in all the different ways he does so. I guess I haven’t really thought about all the different ways that I write and what for. Did this article shock you in anyway?

  1. I don't think the article shocked me, but it definitely got me thinking. I could relate to a lot of the reasons why he writes.

  2. I agree with Stacey, I was not shocked by this article but, intrigued. I really enjoy reading things like this that really make me think. I have never really thought before about all of the reasons why someone may write. We write for so many different reasons, it is incredible to think about. I think that the repetition in his writing really helped to get his point across to the audience as well.

  3. You feel like its as basic to her as breathing, a necessity for someone who has something to say to someone else about something that happened on a certain occasion and that they have a certain purpose in telling it (to reiterate out loose definition of a narrative).
