Comp 2
Composition 2 was much more difficult for me to complete than composition 1 for several reasons. I had more trouble with this assignment I feel because I was performing an analysis on someone elses work and not creating a memoir of my own. This composition was certainly beneficial to me as a writer becasue I was able to look at what rhetorical stratigies I felt were effective in helping Crumb get his message across. For my analysis I chose "Walking in the streets" by Robert Crumb I felt that Crumbs use of his detailed illustrations to reinforce his message of the text. In the past I have performed rhetorical analysis on novels but never on a comic, which made it interesting because with a comic you had to analyze how the illustrations influence the text.

My composition 2 essay was also on Robert Crumb's Walkin' the Streets. My thesis was somewhat similar, except I mine talks about how the illustrations reinforced the idea that he was thinking too much throughout the entire thing, and that over-analyzing was the reason why he was so unhappy all the time.
ReplyDeleteMy comp was on Two Questions but in my last English class, we had daily discussions about the rhetorical strategies that an author is using. That was not that formal-- of course we had to back up our arguments with examples--but it was more discussion based. I definitely agree that it was more challenging with images involved. That was a whole new area I have never experienced. Glad I had to do it, though.
