Vladek and Art's relationship
In the first book I felt a lot of tension between Art and his father. Art had a kind of disdain for many of his father's actions and personality traits. In short their relationship left much to be desired. In the second book though, I feel this may change mainly because of the death of Vladek. Now I think Art will start to look back on his father after his death and all his querks start to realize why he father acted as his did and how his experience helped shape him. Although I feel Vladek can be overbearing, much like Art does, I get the feeling he only wants the best for his son. The therapy sessions Art goes to seem to foreshadow something to this measure, it seems this will help Art justify or figure out why his father acted like he did by talking it out with someone who had a similar experience. All in all by the end of the book I feel like there will be some kind of closure in their rocky relationship. What do you guys think?

I think that although there might have been a slight change in their relationship Vladek died with much tension still between the two. I think this is why the book focuses (not the entire book) on Art. We seem him grieving his father's death and struggling over a seond book. I think this is included to possibly show his remorse for not trying to mend things with his father. Parents and children don't always get along and thats perfectly natural but I think Art is truly troubled by the fact that he couldn't look past the annoying things his father did and form a real relationship.
