A lot of the posts have to do with the 1972 version of Maus. I felt that it was too Disney, especially with the mother dying. The cartoony look didn't fit the story, it just felt awkward. I also can't imagine reading the entire story written as a bedtime story. The revised version is way better. By making the animals more abstract, it was easier to imagine them as human beings than Mickey Mouse. It is funny now that I look back and I always liked comics because they were so childish looking. I guess it is another thing that an artist must consider that an author wouldn’t have to, but makes a big difference. I also like the fact that Art is now older. We can now see the effects of the Holocaust on not just his father but on him. Now it really does fit with "my father bleeds history."
