Composition 1

After yesterdays class session when we discussed Composition 1 in greater detail, I actually became very excited to get to work on it. I think that it is extremely challenging and also interesting to see that a writer can write 6 words, accompany those 6 words with 6 pictures and basically tell an entire story. A story that it may take other writers pages and pages to tell. I also really love that this project is so open and we as students can pretty much write about ANY topic of our choice whether it is an event that took place in one hour or something that has happened over a lifetime. The part of this project that I find most challenging is arranging my ideas in to exactly 6 words. I have several ideas of what my topic may be but with every one of those topics, I have had to play around with and rearrange the words that I use to get exactly 6. That is not something that we normal struggle with as students, most of the time our teachers are saying "more, write more!" and I think that is why I find this composition so interesting. The fact that a picture is also very descriptive and "worth a thousand words" also helps as the writer to portray our message. What are your thoughts? Do you find this project challenging or interesting? What are some of your topic ideas?

  1. I really like composition 1. I always have trouble filling up my pages to the required number for papers. This is the first time that I have to shrink the idea into a smaller form. It's kind of fun, and I don't think I will have too much trouble doing that. As I'm thinking of composition 1 and 2 right now, "words, pictures, together a story forms", these things just connects :D

  2. Yea I am quite excited to work on composition 1 in greater detail. The part I am looking forward to is the 6 images. The fact that "a picture is worth a thousand words" will help explain our 6 word memoir with a short story of pictures.

  3. I also find composition 1 interesting. And I think I like the 6 images and 6 word memoirs more than the 66 word memoir because I am finding it a little difficult to condense everything.
