Reconciliation

In the second to last chapter of the Maus story, Saved, it is interesting to note the titles application to each narrative from the chapters beginning to the stories completion. The more obvious is the fathers recollection of attaining his freedom from Nazi oppression while another hints at Vladek’s loosening grasp on his survival instinct. To put it modestly, Vladek was frugal, and these hard earned lessens gave way with Mala’s arrival towads the beginning of the second honeymoon. Vladek says her stipulation for coming back to him was a one hundred thousand dollar transfer into her name, bank account, and this is the last time we see Vladek’s accusations of his family wasting money on their lack of skill and laziness, from his perspective.
