Art's story?

One thing that I noticed about volume two of Maus is that it seemed to be more about Art than his father. The first point where the plot switches its focus to Art is the chapter in which he is shown wearing a mouse mask while flies hover around him. Volume two seems to focus on Art's emotions, pain, and suffering as opposed to Vladek's or even the relationship between the two. The part I mentioned before is a great example of this. This scene is the first moment that we encounter Art as more than a vessel for the telling of his father's story. Although the book has a second plot line about their father son relationship this is the first time that the story focuses on Art as his own person. Unlike other places in the book this scene exposes Art as a "human" (who although as reader I personally do not sympathize with) instead of a money hungry writer who only spends time with his father for his next project. We get to see Art grieve the loss of his father and struggle with the idea of writing the book that is currently in front of our eyes.
