The Picture
I personally loved the presentation of the real life picture of Vladek that Art had obtained from his father and though it was a great move to throw in to the graphic memoir of his father's story. Even though we got used to seeing mouses and thinking of them as people I still found myself thinking of what he actually looked like. The placement of it was also a great place because had he showed it more toward the beginning or middle I feel we would have thought of that real life photo whenever looking at Vladek whether pictured as young or old. Another thing i noticed about the picture was the style of the striped clothinhg they were given to wear. I didn't exactly picture the old movies which show the black and white striped convict uniform but I didn't picture the style of clothing which he had on, it almost looked like a nicer set of clothes when all clean. I feel it was kind of cool to get to see a real life image at the end. What do you guys think?

I agree with you because I almost always found myself wondering what characters look like while I am reading, no matter what type of literature it may be. When I found out that we would be reading graphic memoirs, I became more excited because I thought that I would finally be given atleast a drawing of what the characters look like. I later found out that all of the characters in Maus were animals and I was back at square one wondering what these "people" actually looked like. The picture of him at the end of the memoir, in my opinion, is a perfect ending as it gave me a huge sense of relief to finally know what Vladek looked like as a human being.
